Rainy Spells

We've all been there. Old sketches and doodles that end up being our canvas for experiments, especially on rainy days (I mean metaphoric rain here, of course).

I picked up a pencil after the longest time. Or rather, I stayed with the pencil this time instead of being distracted by every other alluring medium within my reach. And I got a lot of things wrong, which is a lesson in itself: you can't abandon the basics. It shows when you've stopped practising your lines. So as disappointing as it is to swallow the fact that I messed this one up, I'm grateful for the wake-up call. And hopeful that I'll stay faithful to dear Mr. Pencil.

Also in my dabbles, digital is a sea of mystery to me, and I'm only playing along its shores. I haven't even got my feet wet yet! I would say that time evades me, but it's honestly more like avoids. Every time I think I could sit and have a relaxing cup of coffee with him, I find he's already been and gone, and I'm left chasing after like a cartoon being, my life strewn about in my wake. Needless to say, progress with anything new is tremendously slow at the moment. But I'm trying. And these are some minuscule strokes - nay, not even whole strokes, but tiny specks of graphite! - in a picture far from its completion. But they keep one sane in the rain :)

Yes, I can be sweet. I'm not always dark and dreary, you know.

But I do love things lighting up the dark :)

The Night Wanderer (I used to be her)

The confused rose

And then sometimes there aren't enough words to word it all.

Like spinning and spinning in foliage I used to love, but lately it's been rather thorny and too thick to let the light in.
It's a good place to learn your way from though. Can't argue with that.

Until next time.

:)
